Tired of having to wait thirty seconds before you can browse a networked share folder in Network Neighborhood? I know it’s frustrated me many a time having to wait for results when it seems like it shouldn’t take forever. Well, I found the following solution here which eliminates the wait and explains why it happens in the first place.
It turns out that what’s happening when you’re sitting for thirty seconds waiting for that network share to show you all the goodies it has to offer, Windows is checking to see if there are any scheduled tasks on the remote computer. I know not why this is a feature, but I personally have no need for it. Here’s how you turn it off:
First, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace in the Registry. Below that, there should be a key called {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}. Just delete this, and after a restart, Windows will no longer check for scheduled tasks - mucho performance improvement!
Good luck geeks and enjoy that thirty seconds you just got back in your life!
