Soul Kerfuffle has an extremely interesting guest post by a major player in World of Warcraft – an officer in an old and establish guild, who left the game completely.

This is his tale of why he stopped cold turkey.  From the article: From my vantage point as a guild decision maker, I’ve seen it destroy more families and friendships and take a huge toll on individuals than any drug on the market today, and that means a lot coming from an ex-club DJ.

I used to be a HUGE Everquest fan and player, dedicating probably 30 hours a week to the game, and I know a bit of which he speaks.  Fortunately I was able to recognize that my time on the computer playing a game was not being spent in a wise or healthy way and have since done things like go outside, see the sun and start a family.  :)

How serious is internet gaming addiction?  Does it only strike folks with a so-called addictive personality? Can it ruin your life?

Online games are definitely addictive. It blew up my lusts towards those wonderful equipments and weapons, and triggered me to madness of gaming-spree. While after hours of playing, what I gain is just physical tiredness.

Let’s say NO to online games. Don’t worth anything for my time.
