A way to speed up digg.com in your browser

Linux, Quicktips, Ubuntu, howto

Talk about it in our Forums

icon-ubuntu.pngGleaned from our forum user Harrie and McQuaid at the Ubuntu forums, here’s a quick way to speed up the digg website in Konquerer/Firefox.

In Konquerer, choose Settings -> Configure Konqueror.

Then choose Adblock Filters.

Check Enable Filters and add the following (you add it by pasting in the text box and press insert).

digg.com/img/main-back.gif

In Firefox with Adblock enableled -

Tools -> Adblock Plus

Click the Add Filter button and type in

digg.com/img/main-back.gif

Hit Enter after that and your filter will be enabled.

This will change the way Digg looks a bit but should make things go a bunch faster.

EDIT: A digg user brought up another good point. Having lots and lots of friends on Digg slows things down as well, as their back end is making a ton of SQL queries to keep up with them all.
