What you’re seeing is a small version of a very large picture of the Deuteronilus Mensae region on Mars. This image was taken by the Mars Express spacecraft on March 14th, 2005 using it’s high resolution stereo cameras.
That means that if you click the pic to get a much, much bigger version (6.3MB), you’ll get a resolution of about 29 meters per pixel. It’s almost like being there.  Image courtesy of the European Space Agency.
