Ghic Chic, Just Plain Geek

Talk about it in our Forums

Perhaps “beauty” is too strong a word, but it is pretty catchy.

I spent many years trying to convince myself and the people around me that I’m not a geek. I’m not. I can’t be. I began a quest of extensive research to prove myself to be ungeek.

Granted I did the research around piles of electronics I’d take apart to improve upon, my multiple computers, towering collection of films that range from Asian Horror, Indie flicks, my art books on manga, anime, DC comics, Japanese and French language books, my beloved 1001 things everyone should know about Science, along with all my scientific periodicals, and my Joss Whedon collection. But I don’t wear glasses and and and my fashion sense is sensible!

I was a gamer since I happened across Pong at my grandparents house and I drooled as I witnessed the evolution of consoles. Nights I’d go clubbing with my friends, I’d be the first one finished so I could sneak off in the other room and play Nintendo with my friend’s younger brother. DOES THAT MAKE ME A GEEK??? Dare I mention I was published in one of the first Playstation magazines speaking out for girl gamers every where? Truly I ask you… does that sound geeky?

Why all this geek talk on a geek site? Because I’d like to introduce myself as I plan on bringing the female perspective from someone who has done extensive research to come to the conclusion that caused my friends and family to nod in unison- the results flooded in, “My name is Dawn aka Ghic Chic and I am a geek.” But I am not… nor have I ever been a “nerd”.

“Dawn” or “whatsherface” is a Senior Editor with ArsGeek.. If she’s not nestled in front of console playing an adventure or RPG game, she could be found at someone else’s house nestled by a console playing the latest adventure or RPG game. When caught, she goes to work and does “stuff”. Complicated stuff. Stuff that is so involved that she doesn’t even know what it is.

being geek is a part of embracing the beauty in it. like people use to have good time plying with their cat or sleeping. only those who really understand the beauty of the passion in that person can see the true beauty out of the geek.

p/s:beauty and the geek show.. i don’t like truly.. =D

Thank you everyone :-) It’s nice to be here and hopefully assist with the evolution of the site.

And I don’t care for Beauty and the Geek either. The women are praised for retaining elementary school knowledge and the men are rewarded for feats that lower their IQ’s. I’m sorry, but I find geek in a man to be extremely attractive.
