Cool…. Mandriva is the best Linux distribution for newcomers and experts. And the addition of Cedega will make it a superb OS.

Great news!!!! i’m a die hard Mandriva fan and think any progress is good.
there simply isn’t any other distribution that will auto configure all my hardware
as well as Mandriva. Period. Some gaming compatibility software will only
enhance the chances that other graphics software will be ported to linux.

To the negatives:

1) “So you have to purchase a game and pay a third party” – hell of a lot cheaper than paying for Vista now, isn’t it? (Not to mention, optional)

2) Cedega aligning itself unnecessarily – I didn’t hear that this was an exclusive – did you?

3) Mr. Terrible New – If you think Linux games are going to happen overnight without some crossover, keep dreaming. Lets move the XP users to Linux – so they aren’t on Vista – THEN you’ll get lots of native Linux games!

Terrible news, in general. Terrible reporting – well, it’s just a cut-and-paste from the press release, of course. Even still, the fact that you let the words “the world’s only commercial gaming solution for the Linux operating system” be presented on your site is awful.

There are commercial developers trying to create a market for video games on Linux, and this product and this astroturf of an article just helps promote and support the Windows developers, at the cost of the Linux developer’s market share.

Sorry, but I don’t see this as progress. Cedega is only aligning itself unnecessarily with a linux distribution that’s simply not that popular. Given Madriva’s political reputation, this may come back to bite Cedega in the end. It would have been better to stay distro-neutral.
