SmugMug is a service/site that I recently stumbled on. What it is is basically Flickr but a whole lot better. How better? Well, you’ve got unlimited space. You can allow anyone to look at your photos (or no one if you so choose), all of your pics are backed up in three separate physical locations, you get real people to talk to if there’s a problem and there are no ads.

Of course, it is a pay-for-service site. A standard account will ding you $39.95 a year. That’s just a little under $3.40 a month, which really isn’t all that bad. What do you get? A whole bunch of stuff, including lots of personalized settings, online photo editing, uploading of photos up to 12MB in size (each) and lots of other stuff.
If you’re looking for an alternative to the free photo sharing sites out there, you may be interested in checking them out.
