Games, LCD TV, Nuclear Blasts, Secret Agents, Original Emo - must be Thursday’s deals

Thursday is upon us like a swarm of locusts.  Chocolate covered locusts no less since there are some sweet deals today.

For starters, GoGamer is having a largish 48 hour madness sale.  Go here and look to the right of the site, there in a purplish box like a bruise from a fight three days past you’ll find lots of good stuff cheap.  But only until Saturday.

Now let’s head over to our friends at Circuit City.  First up is a Zenith 22″ LCD TV for $299.99.  That’s $150 off the regular retail price, which is pretty darned nice.  With free shipping, that’s even nicer.  They’re also offering pre-orders of Spore for the PC, Mac or DS Light bundled with a $10 gift card.  The PC/Mac version is $49.99 including a $10 gift card.  The DS version is $29.99 including the gift card.  Shipping is free.

Dell has a 500GB Western Digital My Book external HDD for a measly $93.99.

Big fan of metal?  Old school metal?  Old school metal on the Nuclear Blast label?  Well you sure are in luck then - because Amazon has the Best of Nuclear Blast - 10 tracks of pure metal godawfulness for a grand total of $0.00.  That’s right, free metal!  Still on the fence about getting this?  Check out this review:

I am 50 years old and have been listening to rock music since Dylan went electric. I can honestly say that this is some of the most godawful stuff I’ve ever heard. BUT, it is free, and thank you to the record company for releasing it this way. I disliked every minute of it, but I am extremely happy to have had the opportunity to hear it, which I wouldn’t have otherwise. Hooray, and pass the Tylenol! Hey, BTW, these bands can really play — I am a drummer and would need oxygen after about 40 seconds of playing at this speed …

Next up is Bond, in all his incarnations.  007 is only $95.99 and that covers everything from Dr. No to Casino Royale.  That’s 21 bond films, which works out to $4.57 cents a flick.  Multiply that by .007 and you get .03199.  Multiply 3199 by 007 and you get 22,393, which divided by the number of films (21) equals 1066 which was the year the Battle of Hastings happened in England, which is where Bond is from. Crazy, right?

If you need a little cheering up after that equation, you’re out of luck.  To keep you in your mellow funk Amazon is also offering the Depeche Mode - the Singles 86 - 98 as a $3.99 digital download for all 21 songs.  Consider the fact that the CD goes for $22 and you should actually cheer up a little.

Wow, that nuclear album sucks! My neighbors are going to be hearing a lot of it, thanks!

(Note: you need to download a ‘downloader’ for your distro to download the whole album. The one marked Ubuntu 7.10 installs fine in Ubuntu 8.10)
