Working on J&SBSB was a lot of fun. One of my jobs was to build an Orangotan suit that was to act as a stand in for the real Orang (her name was Susie btw) in case there was something she couldn't or wouldn't do. we made the suit for a kid called "Cooter", he was a 10yo boy who came from a family of stunt men and women. In fact his Dad, and two uncles worked on the show as Apes for the "Planet of the Apes" sequence. Anyway, we pulled a full body and head cast of Cooter to make the suit over. It was decided that we'd need a dummy Orang for scenes that were too dangerous for Susie or Cooter to do, so we figured the best, easiest and least expensive way was to make a posable dummy of Cooter to fit inside the suit. Now, one of my specialties is building creatures and muscle suits out of foam rubber, so I offered to construct the dummy. One day Kevin came by to look at everything we were building and to generally geek out because he loves this kinda stuff. Our little crew hung with him for a bit and we talked about the Scooby Doo sequence (which was severely cut down. That's a whole different story) as well the apes and Orang suit. So a few of weeks later, a couple of us had a meeting at the production offices with Kevin, Scott, Ratface, and some other people from the Art Dept. We're all introducing each other and saying our hellos. When I met Scott Moser, the first thing out of his mouth was,"So, you're the guy who built the foam boy, huh?". even though I'd worked on the Orang suit, animatronic Ape heads, Animatronic Scooby Doo, Cock Knocker hand and a bunch of other stuff, I was known as "The Guy That Made The Foam Boy". Dumbest nickname Ever!

It was very cool to see some old videos of Mark Hammill and Kurt Russell. Also, it seems like such a long time ago after watching the video.

PaulRay,

I can’t believe that you worked with Mark on Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I have to agree with arsgeek that you must have some great stories about the experience.

Ack! You must have some great stories - and now I have visions of Cocknocker's hand in my head, which can be problematic.

Giant hand. GIANT HAND!

Yeah, it was a good time. I've gotten to know Kevin a bit. He's very cool and it was the most fun set I've ever worked on. Kevin, Scott, Ratface, they're all great to work with. They just love the process of making movies. They're all fanboys.
Enjoy DVD night! :-)

You TOUCHED Mark Hammill's hand?!? *swoon*

Seriously though (well, okay, I was serious before too) that's awesome. You've actually worked with two people in the industry I'd love to meet - Mark Hammill and Kevin Smith.

Both are icons, both seem like really cool people in real life and both happen to exist multiple times on my DVD shelves. When they were featured together in J&SBSB I was a very happy person.

Now I'm going to have to fire up some DVDs when I get home. :)

Hi Ben,

I worked with Mark on Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I actually rigged the Cock Knocker hand to fall off (among other things). Anyway, I have to say, after many years in the business, Mark Hammill is the most genuinely nice "Star" I've ever worked with.
