World of Warcraft: Wrath Of The Lich King; Everyone Including Your Grandmother Is Playing It

I'd say about 1 in 2 people reading this either play World of Warcraft, know someone that plays it, or has completely lost their lives to it. The reason I know that is because the expansion pack to WoW, Wrath of the Lich King set record numbers for sales its first 24 hours upon release.

Is His CPU a Neural Net Processor?

Well, here we go. How long until Judgment Day? They're making real robots to look like humans in what is obviously going to bring to mind images involving a certain "electronic murderer". Luckily these robots aren't killing people...yet.

A trip to Wal-Mart will really bring the home the fact that the holidays are on the way. It may be a couple weeks until Thanksgiving, but Christmas accessories are aplenty.

Broadband as a Utility?

More people are using broadband than ever before. More people are downloading movies and music than ever before. More people are watching streaming video than ever before. More providers are offering this stuff than ever before. More companies are going to cloud computing than ever before. More companies are using these cloud computing services than ever before. Wait a second. You already knew all of that? No, it's not exactly breaking news, but the potential for disaster created by all of this is often overlooked.

What the McG is Happening to My Electronic Murderer?

It is my belief that there are two kinds of Terminator fans. There are the kind that enjoyed the first three films, and eagerly await the next episode of the Sarah Connor Chronicles, and there are those who love the first two, thought the third one was somewhere between bad and mildly decent, and are not very interested in either the Sarah Connor Chronicles or the upcoming Terminator: Salvation. If you fall into a different category, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Early (Before) Holiday Deals on Electronics

As the economy progresses on its downward spiral (hopefully to soon recover), and with the holidays quickly approaching, there are some great deals already available.  Stores don't want to hold onto an excess of products, so the goal this year is get it gone.  For some of them you have to be a haggling/negotiating type of person, others you can walk in and find great deals, and some you simply visit your favorite website and find the perfect price for what you want...

Hackers, Hacking, Hacks

The art of hacking in a technological world is generally a negative thing. To hack into something, usually means a breach in security and some form of data altered. However, hacking, and being particularly skilled at it, can pay off – if the skills are used appropriately.

Duke Nukem Forever screenshots - Also proof of bigfoot, little green men

They are kind of pretty and shiny in a hard bitten, vaporware sort of way.  But wait, could this be the proof that we're all waiting for?  Will DNF be an actual product in our lifetime?  I'll let you decide that while you gaze lovingly at the once familiar mug of our long lost protagonist.  Let's hope that if it is real, it makes a better impression than Spore.

SpaceX did it! Falcon 1 achieves orbit right on target

This is a pretty great day for any space enthusiast.  Another private company has gotten off of this planet.  I'm still of the opinion that while NASA's research and their achievements shouldn't be overlooked, what is going to get us off of this planet and into a permanent position in our solar system is going to be the private corporations.

How to get package info (including version and dependancies) on just about anything in Ubuntu

Do you know how to find out what version of SSH is running on your Ubuntu box?  How about what version of apt?  Would you like to see what certain packages depend on to run?  Or find the MD5 hash for already installed packages?

It’s Mark Hammill’s Birthday! Celebrate with his Star Wars audition tape, Kurt Russell and Cocknocker!

In watching these two videos, I find myself wondering what it would be like to be Mark Hammill and Kurt Russell at the time these were recorded.  That's a world where no one had ever heard of Star Wars and Lucas was this guy that made a passable film about cruising around in the 50s.
