Apollo 14 astronaut says “aliens are real”, pats Mulder on the back comfortingly

Edgar Mitchell is not only an astronaut, but someone who's interested in paranormal phenomena.  While on Apollo 14, in addition to doing cool back flips and science stuff, he conducted private ESP experiments with friends back on Earth.

Tor.com launches, with a great new short story

The new Tor website launched today - they are the publishers of one of my favorite new authors, John Scalzi. Mr. Scalzi penned the great novel, Old Man's War and several sequels, all of which are a fun read. John has a way with dialog, and weaves a wonderful story. I highly recommend his work.

Robotech gets Lawrence Kasdan as screenwriter. Lawrence Kasdan soon to crush irrovocably my childhood fondness of Robotech.

Hold the phone folks, Hollywood is soon to crush another of my fond childhood memories.  It’s long been known (almost 2 months!) that Toby McGuire had purchased the rights to the movie.  Just picturing Toby in a wild Rick Hunter wig with matching helmet, vaulting into a Speed Raceresque, video game like movie where all [...]

Save Jericho. Again!

15. June 2008

Some slightly rabid fans of the twice canceled television show Jericho have created their own commercial.  Looks like they raised about six grand to create and then air the television spot.  The spot is running in the Los Angeles area over the next few weeks, but of course you can grab it on YouTube or [...]

Footage from the lost Mars Rover moments before destruction – could this be the proof we’re looking for?

I’m a huge proponent of life outside of our planet. I do really believe the chances are very high for life, perhaps even intelligent life. What I lack however, is concrete proof of this. Until, perhaps, now. Technorati Tags: aliens, mars, rovers, proof, mars monkeys Share and Enjoy:

Universal is coming to ComicCon. So aren’t a bunch of us, so if you can’t make it yourself, we’ll have cameras, camcorders, voice [...]

To all the geeks I’ve know who’ve played D&D over the years – here are four women. Playing D&D. On Public Access TV.

What better way to celebrate the life of Gary Gygax than to show what a real D&D session looks like! That is, if you’re D&D sessions featured green screens, make up and . . . uh. . . lots of women. As mine always did. I used to invite my girlfriend, who lived in Canada, [...]

We all know about Abell 1835 IR1916 (not pictured above). That galaxy that just happens to be the furthest and thus oldest galaxy ever seen by Hubble. It’s just about 13.25 million light years away – far even compared to driving through Texas, and this galaxy’s been around for about 97% of the time the [...]

Hi Everyone.  Long time no post!  Yeah, that flu and it’s crazy friends fever and dream had me in their grasp for quite some time.  Today I’ve finally emerged from my cocoon (er. . . bed) and I’m feeling a bit better.  Nap time still calls but at least I’m conscious, not actively wishing for [...]

This is so awesome that it just reeks of awesomeness.  As awesome as Kirk and Han Solo in the same room together trying to pick up a green-skinned alien lady.  More awesome than that even.  It’s like. . . like. . . like 1987! Found at PixelMash Theater. Technorati Tags: sf, scifi, star wars, a [...]

Nightmare, poison sushi, bear mauling and being tied up by the Japanese mob in San Fran. Just some of the 117 reasons David Banner turns into the Hulk

Ah the Incredible Hulk. I grew up watching Bill Bixby say things like “You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry!” while wearing brown plaid shirts and driving around looking for a gamma radiation cure. It was always something though, that would cause him to Hulk out and go through yet another set of pants. Here’s [...]
