Is Twitter still relevant - If so, you can follow this geek on it

I hopped on the Twitter bandwagon a while ago when it was neat and fresh and then promptly forgot all about it. Then I got some neato iPod Touch apps, including a Twitter updater and reader called Twittelator and suddenly rediscovered Twitter. Anyone still using this?  If so, feel free to pop in and say hi!

ArsGeek Feeds broken, brokener, fixed.

Due to multiple redirects and some RSS stuff that still has me feeling like I’ve just slugged down a vodka and gasoline shot, the ArsGeek feeds were looping back to the ArsGeek main site.  If CERN’s LHC had you worried, then I’m glad you didn’t hear about this because little vortexes were spinning about all over the web.

China’s CCTV building’s new skin is on. Here are my shots of it from a few months ago.

China’s CCTV building’s new skin is on. Here are my shots of it from a few months ago.

I was in Beijing a few months ago and got to snap a few pics of the building as they were still putting the windows in.  My friend Chen, who lives in Beijing told me that they refer to this building as "the Giant Pants", which got a chuckle out of me.  It really is quite big though, when driving below it.

The Iphone app for idiots with money

Proving once again that money doesn't necessarily always flow towards the smartest individuals, someone has released the "I am Rich" app to the Apple App Store.  This $999 app does nothing but display an image of a ruby on your iPhone or iPod touch.  Why?  So you can show everyone how much of a rich bastard you are, being able to afford to drop a grand on a picture of a ruby.

Oh Joss I have foresaken thee. I did not know. Truly. I knew not.

Oh Joss I have foresaken thee. I did not know. Truly. I knew not.

There’s no way around it. I’m guilty. I’m guilty of doing a very bad thing. I don’t know if there’s a way I can be forgiven for the sin I have brought unto myself. I mean *how* HOW could I even consider myself to be a fan of Joss Whedon *and* be oblivious to Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog? I could use the excuse that I don’t have iTunes, but really, is that a good enough excuse? No. No it is not. For those of you who have been like me, living in a cave- I give you 'A brand new day, last song act 2'. It should be coming out on DVD, but in the meantime you can catch pieces of it on Youtube (thanks Cavtroop for showing me the error of my ways and pointing me in the right direction. One day, year, decade; I hope to be on good side of the Whedonverse again).

Why can’t we all be a little more gruntled?

Why can’t we all be a little more gruntled?

Gruntled.  Now there's a word that you just don't see anymore – in fact, we may never have seen it.  What?  You don't know what Gruntled means?  Let me use it in a sentence. Larry was so gruntled today, he didn't even haul off on anyone with an assault rifle. Gruntled. The opposite of disgruntled.  Sometime back in our murky past we added the prefix 'dis' to the fine word gruntled and then gruntled ambled off to the word graveyard never to be seen again.

10 reasons I’m glad I don’t have a new iPhone

Now that the new iPhone is sweeping the nation (hey, almost 0.0034% of the US population has one) there are lots of reasons to go pick one up.  I unfortunately will not be doing so for a variety of reasons, mostly centering on green things that fit into pockets and don't come out of anyone's nose.  Since I'm not getting one, I've sat back and picked through my . . . thoughts to compile a list of 10 reasons why I'm glad not to have a new iPhone!

Is this thing on?

Hey folks,  how are you? All I can say is . . . woah. That's my best Keanu Reeves imitation by the way. Woah. My silly little post made up of anecdotes put together over several years of commuting and running Linux found itself on Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon at the same time. Big ouchie man, big ouchie. Technically my site can handle being on the forefront of one of these sites.  Two will mean it's going up and down like a hornet with a bad attitude.  Three?  Well three had me looking at SQL errors all day long and weeping dramatically into my beer. I'm glad you all liked the post, or hated it or thought it unlikely - whatever happened, it was certainly if briefly popular with the web.  Thanks!

10 things I’ve overheard about my Linux laptop while on public transportation

I've been taking the train to work for 4 years now.  It's a 45 minute rambling ride in which I usually either read a book, sleep, or grab my laptop loaded up with Ubuntu and get some stuff done.  Over time, I've collected a few funny remarks I've either over heard, or that people have said directly to me. Here are the 10 best.

Mi Gato se Incendia! (My cat is on fire!)

A while back, I came up with a fun little game although still a bit rough around the edges.  Mi Gato se Incendia! is a game about a cat, and it's struggles to remain flame free.  The object of the game is to rescue an escaped cat (Mi Gato).  The only problem is up to three other people are also trying to capture the cat - and there are various hazards throughout the neighborhood, from BBQ grills to alien encounters, which can cause your feline friend to burst into flames.
