The history of female involvement in video games has been a rocky one. Back in the proverbial day it was unheard of to find a girl that enjoyed playing video games. If you did know a person of the finer sex who played video games, it was like finding a diamond in the ruff. These days though the taboo of the situation has lifted, and evolved. Which has inevitably led to female characters in video games to evolve, somewhat.

When you break down the base formula of super hero video games, you'd think a positive outcome would occur. Superman gets to fly around and punch bad guys through walls and if he wants incinerate them with eye ball laser beams. Who wouldn't want to do that in a video game?

I enjoyed many different franchises from the mid-late 80's, but there was one that trumped them all. Ghostbusters. I had a tape of Ghostbusters that I honestly watched about 100-200 times. I'd say about 1 in 2 people reading this either play World of Warcraft, know someone that plays it, or has completely lost their lives to it. The reason I know that is because the expansion pack to WoW, Wrath of the Lich King set record numbers for sales its first 24 hours upon release.

They are kind of pretty and shiny in a hard bitten, vaporware sort of way. But wait, could this be the proof that we're all waiting for? Will DNF be an actual product in our lifetime? I'll let you decide that while you gaze lovingly at the once familiar mug of our long lost protagonist. Let's hope that if it is real, it makes a better impression than Spore.

Fed up with DRM, high costs, the same old same old and system requirements that are way to high? Go old school with GOG.com!

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard of Good Old Games (GOG.com). I've been hearing a lot about it as well so I decided to finally check it out and what I discovered was a little slice of gamer heaven. Let's start with some of the problems of modern gaming - issues that I have at least, maybe you'll agree with some of them. First of before anything else is the state of the software. Buggy releases which feel like nothing more than late beta stage games, crippled with DRM and support that consists of the user doing all of the footwork.
