Hide Your Children – Entertainment Rating Laws Have No Legal Bearing In Britain

We live in a society today where so much of it relies on protecting our children. With access to the internet, movies, games it can be hard to decide upon what is appropriate for kids and what is not. Which is why we have rating systems to help parents figure out what their children can view or not. Also, these ratings are the basis for most laws which make it illegal for businesses to sell inappropriate material to minors. That is unless you live in Britain.

Is Downloading Movies and Games Becoming a Legal Business?

The rogue trade of file sharing or should I say illegal downloading of movies and games has been rife for years. So many pirate sites exist that allow P2P file transfer or access to news servers where header information points to the file server. It’s claimed that the movie industry alone loses millions of dollars each year to the trade. Though, what can be done to control it?

Gmail Makes It Easier to Switch Accounts

Nearly everyone has had or used a number of e-mail services in their lifetime. I am now a staunch defender of Gmail, after four years of watching it evolve. Now, with an attractive theme, cool shortcuts, and the layout just the way I like it, I feel as comfortable with Gmail as I do in my own living room at home.

Internet Surfing Increases Workplace Productivity…EUREKA!!

Around the time of March Madness, nearly every year an article is created about how much money is lost due to fans watching the tournament. With internet browsing, there’s even more articles based around money lost due to leisurely browsing. I could post an entire artile linking to connections between financing, and internet browsing. Now, [...]

Will OnLive Be The Next Phase Of Video Gaming?

As I keep reading about OnLive, and watch videos of it in action I think back to a very insightful quote: "No matter what the level of your ability, you have more potential than you can ever develop in a lifetime.” - James T Mccay

Broadband as a Utility?

More people are using broadband than ever before. More people are downloading movies and music than ever before. More people are watching streaming video than ever before. More providers are offering this stuff than ever before. More companies are going to cloud computing than ever before. More companies are using these cloud computing services than ever before. Wait a second. You already knew all of that? No, it's not exactly breaking news, but the potential for disaster created by all of this is often overlooked.

Early (Before) Holiday Deals on Electronics

As the economy progresses on its downward spiral (hopefully to soon recover), and with the holidays quickly approaching, there are some great deals already available.  Stores don't want to hold onto an excess of products, so the goal this year is get it gone.  For some of them you have to be a haggling/negotiating type of person, others you can walk in and find great deals, and some you simply visit your favorite website and find the perfect price for what you want...

“Man goes to court after butt stapled shut” – headline of the month award with bonus for rhyming.

Not one, but two respectable news outlets today feature a story about a man and his butt.   Unfortunately there's no happy ending here.  It appears that his rectum was stapled shut and he couldn't defecate for 17 days which turned out to be a real pain in the . . . man's life. Hard to stomach, I know so imagine how he feels.  Apparently MSNBC was enamored with the Baltimore Examiner's article and with a slight tweak they spread the news far and wide.  The doctor who did the questionable stapling is in court defending his end of the proceedings. Read on for the original article.

Crazy guy communes with Aliens for a televised interview. Makes interviewer feel his energy-beam induced chest sweat

I like aliens.  I've never met an alien I didn't like actually.  Until I saw this guy.  He qualifies for both an alien I don't like and the first alien I've ever met, so I guess I've totally struck out. Here's a guy who claims he is channeling aliens via an energy beam directly to his hairy, slightly repugnant sweaty chest.  The very same chest he then makes an interviewer feel to confirm the alien-beam sweat.
