More people are using broadband than ever before. More people are downloading movies and music than ever before. More people are watching streaming video than ever before. More providers are offering this stuff than ever before. More companies are going to cloud computing than ever before. More companies are using these cloud computing services than ever before. Wait a second. You already knew all of that? No, it's not exactly breaking news, but the potential for disaster created by all of this is often overlooked.

As the economy progresses on its downward spiral (hopefully to soon recover), and with the holidays quickly approaching, there are some great deals already available. Stores don't want to hold onto an excess of products, so the goal this year is get it gone. For some of them you have to be a haggling/negotiating type of person, others you can walk in and find great deals, and some you simply visit your favorite website and find the perfect price for what you want...

Not one, but two respectable news outlets today feature a story about a man and his butt. Unfortunately there's no happy ending here. It appears that his rectum was stapled shut and he couldn't defecate for 17 days which turned out to be a real pain in the . . . man's life. Hard to stomach, I know so imagine how he feels. Apparently MSNBC was enamored with the Baltimore Examiner's article and with a slight tweak they spread the news far and wide. The doctor who did the questionable stapling is in court defending his end of the proceedings. Read on for the original article.

I like aliens. I've never met an alien I didn't like actually. Until I saw this guy. He qualifies for both an alien I don't like and the first alien I've ever met, so I guess I've totally struck out. Here's a guy who claims he is channeling aliens via an energy beam directly to his hairy, slightly repugnant sweaty chest. The very same chest he then makes an interviewer feel to confirm the alien-beam sweat.

In this recent article at Bohemian.com, Gabriel Fransisco describes a lifestyle lost to an overwhelming obsession with video games. But is this attempt at a heart-wrenching anecdote evidence of the addictive nature of video games, or is it evidence of a man with an obsessive personality who has the uncanny ability (or curse) of overwhelming focus on his personal goals? My own positive relationship with video games provides a stark contrast with Gabriel's self-destructive obsession.

Amazon.com announced today a program to ship games for arrival on their release date. You can now sneer at those folks who waiting in line at GameStop for almost 20 minutes to receive the latest gaming industry created rogue rip-off or YAFPS (Yet Another First Person Shooter - thanks Cavtroop) while you slave away at work and watch UPS repeatedly try to deliver a game to your empty home via their tracking site. It's only good on a couple of games right now, but expect more publishers to jump on board soon.

Initial reports are beginning to leak out of San Francisco that a mysterious object has been seen in the sky, blotting out the stars and staring down ominously at the peaceful inhabitants of The Golden Gate City. An intrepid amateur videographer has posted footage of the mysterious object on Youtube. Star Wars aficionados may recognize the massive moon-like invader as none other than a Death Star - a space station and weapon capable of destroying an entire planet - previously thought to be mere fiction.

In the world of time-wasting, flash games may be the ruling elite. Simple games like Motherload and Portal: The Flash Version have gotten me through countless long days at work. And now that I've discovered Fantastic Contraption, I just might never work again.

Remember in grade school there was this kid who could make fart noises with his armpit? How cool that was? You wanted to be able to do that too, but never seemed to be able to pull it off. And remember how in high school, the same kid was still making fart noises with his armpit? But now you thought it was gross (You never admitted to anyone you still tried to make it work alone in your room). Have you ever wondered what happened to that guy?
