Duke Nukem Forever screenshots - Also proof of bigfoot, little green men

They are kind of pretty and shiny in a hard bitten, vaporware sort of way.  But wait, could this be the proof that we're all waiting for?  Will DNF be an actual product in our lifetime?  I'll let you decide that while you gaze lovingly at the once familiar mug of our long lost protagonist.  Let's hope that if it is real, it makes a better impression than Spore.

Bionic Commando: Rearmed is Heavy on Nostalgia, Light on Gameplay

In 1987, Capcom unveiled a new franchise - Bionic Commando. Bionic Commando started as a standalone arcade game, in which the the main character was a soldier equipped with a bionic arm used for swinging, grabbing, and ass-kicking. In 1988, a sequel was made for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Two weeks ago, Capcom released a remake of the 1988 NES classic on the Playstation Network, XBox Live Arcade, and PC gaming systems.

Can You Do This? I’ll Bet You Can’t. I Couldn’t.

Remember in grade school there was this kid who could make fart noises with his armpit? How cool that was? You wanted to be able to do that too, but never seemed to be able to pull it off. And remember how in high school, the same kid was still making fart noises with his armpit? But now you thought it was gross (You never admitted to anyone you still tried to make it work alone in your room). Have you ever wondered what happened to that guy?

Adam Savage Is a Geeky God

At the end of July, the H.O.P.E. (Hackers On Planet Earth) conference was held in New York.  One of the featured speakers was Adam Savage, co-host of the Mythbusters.  Savage talked about his geeky passion for creating and learning, and described (among other things) his personal recreation of a dodo skeleton.  He also took questions from the audience.

Do you prefer the original Star Wars trilogy or the Special Edition? Use this video as a guide.

I remember when Star Wars first hit the silver screen.  Actually, it's one of my earliest film memories.  I also went to see the Special Edition digitally retouched, Han shoots last editions in the theater.  Each has something to give, I think.  The original trilogy is forever cemented in my brain as THE movies of my youth.  The special edition looks shinier.

China’s CCTV building’s new skin is on. Here are my shots of it from a few months ago.

I was in Beijing a few months ago and got to snap a few pics of the building as they were still putting the windows in.  My friend Chen, who lives in Beijing told me that they refer to this building as "the Giant Pants", which got a chuckle out of me.  It really is quite big though, when driving below it.

Knights Templar sue Vatican for 100 Billion dollars in damage. 100 BILLION.

The Register is reporting that the Knights Templar, in one of their modern forms, The Association of the Sovereign Order of the Temple of Christ (TASOTC) is using the Spanish legal system to demand, in light of new documents, that the vatican take back all that nasty stuff they said about them.  Oh, and return their assets, currently worth about $100,000,000,000 dollars.  Give or take.

6 reasons why PC gaming is better than Console gaming is better than PC gaming

Until some sort of convergence happens, where computers become small enough that a good gaming rig can be had in a small, quiet, cool little box there will always be a war between consoles and PCs when it comes to gaming.

Anonymous has release two new videos. Guy Fawkes mask sellers rejoice.

Anyonymous, the psuedo-organization that is being used as a tool to fight Scientology, has released a few new videos to YouTube.  How are things going for Anonymous?  How much progress have they made, and what changes have come about in the six months or so that they've been in existence?

Knight Rider Rides Again

Wednesday, September 24th is the big day friends.  Knight Rider returns to television at 8pm EST on NBC.  On that day I'm dusting off my old leather jacket, getting out some red LCD lights for my Element and setting my GPS voice for Val Kilmer. My only hope is that they don't bring back the one element of the show from my childhood that I didn't like. . . K.A.T.T.  Blech.

Get a free Star Wars Pocket Model. Is that a 31st Flight Droid in your pocket. . .

Wizkids in cahoots with Toys R Us are giving away free Star Wars pocket models to those in the US with access to a physical location giving them away.  In most cases this is a Toys R Us but also a bunch of comic book stores are doing this as well.

Unfair Competition? Internet Radio struggles

I ran into more discussion about the Internet Radio Equality Act today at The Tech Observer. There seems to be a lot of misinformation going around as to what this is all about. Apparently many people believe that copyright royalties are unregulated, and that Pandora and the independent net radio industry is trying to impose special regulations on the recording industry in order to support their business model. This couldn't be farther from the truth.

Ditko’s Objectivist Tracts

As a geek, you're likely to know that Steve Ditko created Spider-Man. Amongst his lesser known creations are a series of Objectivist comics presenting his unconventional political beliefs. If you're a follower of Ayn Rand yourself, or you just get a kick out of Jack Chick-style political tracts, check out this post over on Dinosaur Gardens, where one of his full comics entitled "The Avenging World" is presented in PDF and Comic Book Archive format.
