To Hell and Back

It’s a tough time to be a horror fan. With the majority of American fright films being either adaptations of barely better j-horror, Hollywood remakes, or a slew of disposable kiddie fodder, there seems to be no room for original ideas for studio scare faire. Leave it to Sam Raimi to step up to the [...]

Salvation for Terminator

Back in the first 80’s movie when Kyle Reese described the war-torn landscapes of the Terminators, movie audiences could only imagine how that future looked. In the following films, brief glimpses were shown of the robot hell that earth becomes, but in Terminator Salvation, those visions have become realized. Christian Bale delivers the presence you’d expect [...]

Set Phasers to Awesome

It’s a good bet if you read this blog you’ve already seen it, but if this little bit of positive word of mouth benefits this sci-fi masterpiece in the very least, then my duty is done. Star Trek proves you can have a summer blockbuster action flick with plot and substance and not rely solely [...]

The Expendables to Be Indispensable

Why The Expendables could be one of the most important movies of this generation. If done well, which I think the new Rocky and Rambo were, seeing these iconic characters and figures at the end of their game is a logical and potentially powerful narrative course of action. It’s arguable whether or not the 4th [...]

Comic Book Costumes Can Work

Before comic books were cool they were shoved into hallway lockers along with other nerdy counterparts like Dungeons and Dragons and computers. In 2009 you would have to be some kind of social outcast if you were into Lord of the Rings, Batman and the internet, right? Well back when we were all ashamed to [...]

Video Game - Movie Transitions: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Last week we saw what I can only consider to be a travesty against the forces of the universe. I’m not talking about the near hit we could have taken from an asteroid, but the release of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-li. In fact, I’d almost rather take the asteroid than to see this [...]

Christopher Nolan Live Director’s Commentary On The Dark Knight, Tonight

The Dark Knight is arguably the best movie to come out in the past decade. It's easily the best movie that I've seen this year, and Heath Ledger's best performance in his career. Last week, The Dark Knight released on Blu-Ray, and just after one week of release became the best selling Blu-Ray movie so far.

What the McG is Happening to My Electronic Murderer?

It is my belief that there are two kinds of Terminator fans. There are the kind that enjoyed the first three films, and eagerly await the next episode of the Sarah Connor Chronicles, and there are those who love the first two, thought the third one was somewhere between bad and mildly decent, and are not very interested in either the Sarah Connor Chronicles or the upcoming Terminator: Salvation. If you fall into a different category, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Goonies Never Say Die! Goonies 2 On the Horizon!

Finally, I get to rejoin my childhood heroes in an adventure for the ages!  And with many of the original actors returning for the sequel (Sean Astin and Corey Feldman especially), Goonies 2 will actually feel like a sequel.

Boondock Saints 2? For reals this time?

Midway through watching the latest Hannah Montana episode, I decided to end the insanity and check out what was being dugg. This next headline of course captured my attention and made the surrounding world fade away instantly (crub! I think there was a pet or two I was supposed to feed) ‘Boondock Saints 2? Plot details + Production Diary!' Wow, this looked vaguely like something I had read a few years ago that never seemed to pan out. Well with Troy Duffy having to deal with some legal issues that just wrapped up, I guess everything is getting the green light... maybe... Damn I hate rumors.

The Dark Knight Review without Spoilers

The Dark Knight Review without Spoilers

Let me start off by saying I'm a huge cynic when it comes to movies that are hyped up. Once people begin to rave about a film, I automatically search for the flaws. It's my nature that stems from being let down so many times from a long awaited film that flopped and flipped before my eyes and caused me to count each second of my life that was wasted. Perhaps it was appropriate that the prelude to the blockbuster season was fittingly a trip to NYC to attend the 2008 NYC Comic-Con and sit before those who created the geek genus: Dick Ayers, Nick Cardy, Irwin Hasen, Carmine Infantino, Joe Kubert, Stan Lee, Jerry Robinson, John Romita, Sr, Joe Simon, Joe Sinnott and Mort Walker to name a few (you can view my footage here ).

Why so serious? Because it’s opening weekend!

I am doing it. I am crossing the line into mainstream and going to see The Dark Knight on opening weekend. I purchased my tickets on Fandango for the 9:30 a.m. showing tomorrow morning to keep some of my pride in tact and I'm still in shock that the film is already out! Two years I've waited anxiously for this day to come, ever since I saw the picture of Heath putting on the make-up. He looked gritty, psychotic, awesome! By no means am I a film nerd, so my review of the film will more than likely be a little dumbed down and lacking intense details. It'll be raw, excited and perhaps slightly ADHD.

Rather than spending my evenings playing with the latest gadget, reading a great novel or doing something productive online or off, my mind has been so exhausted lately that my brain has preferred to escape through film. Be it theatrical release or the DVD- here’s my latest in what to watch and what to avoid. On [...]
