As the economy progresses on its downward spiral (hopefully to soon recover), and with the holidays quickly approaching, there are some great deals already available. Stores don't want to hold onto an excess of products, so the goal this year is get it gone. For some of them you have to be a haggling/negotiating type of person, others you can walk in and find great deals, and some you simply visit your favorite website and find the perfect price for what you want...

In 1987, Capcom unveiled a new franchise - Bionic Commando. Bionic Commando started as a standalone arcade game, in which the the main character was a soldier equipped with a bionic arm used for swinging, grabbing, and ass-kicking. In 1988, a sequel was made for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Two weeks ago, Capcom released a remake of the 1988 NES classic on the Playstation Network, XBox Live Arcade, and PC gaming systems.

I've been fooling around with Cro-Mag Rally by Pangea Software for a couple of days now, mostly during my commute and I've been very much enjoying it. It's everything Monkey Ball should have been - less monkeys, more fun.

Too Human is a 3rd person action-RPG developed by Silicon Knights featuring a combination of intense combat, in-depth character customization, and a rich, compelling storyline. The mythology of the game (planned to be a trilogy) is based on a modified Norse mythology. The player controls the character Baldur, son of Odin. Baldur is one of the Norse gods – a cybernetically advanced human tasked with protecting the human race. Baldur is considered by the other gods to be less advanced than the rest, thus “too human”.

Video game adaptations of movies are notoriously awful, as are movie adaptations of video games. Case in point: the Spiderman games suffered from clunky controls and the Tomb Raider movies were overly dramatized and unfaithful to the video game character designs. Games like these are usually shovelware (that is, games that are produced quickly and cheaply in order to get the game in stores as quickly as possible to take advantage of hype). Even though these games are notoriously bad, affiliation with popular movies usually causes them to receive fairly good sales results based on name-recognition.

Without going into details because I want to keep the theme of the site light-ish, let’s just say a surreal Friday had me crawling into a chrysalis state because I needed to hide away so that I could emerge stronger after a two day hiatus from the world. For those who knew what happened, everyone [...]

Have you ever purchased a game for its simplicity? Or at least what you hoped would be simplicity? A game so simple that when you fail time and time again, you feel like the biggest idiot on the planet? I am playing such a game. Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots. I bought it because it [...]

Sins of a Solar Empire is one of those rare games that has the ability to really capture my attention, draw me in and keep me in front of the PC for long periods of time. I'm a sucker for galactic expansion games and even though I don't go bonkers over RTS games in general, this one in particular has just the right blend of strategy and real time to keep me happily clicking away. Sins is really an RT4X Game – Real Time, eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate.

NIS America hauled off and threw me a copy of Puchi Puchi Virus for the DS the other day. Initially, despite the attractive Virus box it showed up in, and the NIS stamped chocolate candies, I was skeptical. I mean, “Puchi Puchi”? Sure, the story features a dashing Anime doctor named Kevin A. Longfellow, a [...]

Yes this game has been on the market for quite some time, but for me it was one of those games I kept passing by. It *looked* interesting, but not interesting enough to rent or buy. I couldn’t take it seriously.Recently I was browsing the Greatest Hit’s section at Walmart- you know, that $19.95 and [...]

Harkening back to the golden age of Real Time Strategy games, SunAge by Lighthouse Interactive takes a a swing at the old RTS using 2D graphics and a fairly pat last bit of the human race standing storyline. Once again we find ourselves in the future, as the last remnants of the human race struggle [...]

This first look is going to be a bit bleary because I was up way to late last night (this morning?) tooling around the galaxy getting my sorry TEC butt handed to me by pirates. It’s been a long time since I can honestly say I’ve been so captivated by a game of this type [...]

I have a deep and abiding love of strategy games, stemming from a childhood which was rife with boardgames featuring small cardboard squares and maps of European countries. When computers evolved to the point where they were available at home and could run such games, I knew that I loved computers as well. About once [...]

If you’ve got a (possibly hidden) fascination with B grade SciFi movies, a love for Anime, Tom Cruise burdened movies about the end of the world and a wish to see western civilization’s gods of yore thriving again, then Universe At War by Sega is the game for you. Provided of course you’re looking for [...]
