As I keep reading about OnLive, and watch videos of it in action I think back to a very insightful quote: "No matter what the level of your ability, you have more potential than you can ever develop in a lifetime.” - James T Mccay

Star Wars has ruled the entertainment galaxy for what seems like forever. Since I've been alive, Star Wars has always been around in some shape or form. Whether it's books, bed sheets, holiday musicals it seems like Star Wars will always be a part of my life. Nothing has really come close to capturing the magic of the original trilogy, but one form of media that has come close is in video games.

I'd say about 1 in 2 people reading this either play World of Warcraft, know someone that plays it, or has completely lost their lives to it. The reason I know that is because the expansion pack to WoW, Wrath of the Lich King set record numbers for sales its first 24 hours upon release.

Friday has arrive, and with it a bunch of neat things to buy, economy be damned! At least, that's what I'd love to say - truth to tell I'm on a budget, so finding cheap stuff is always helpful. We have today thrash metal gods, Wii pinball, Flips, DVDs, Warcraft, GPS and some other stuff. And please note, no talking like a pirate here.

Speaking of SecuRom - I'm not quite sure why software companies continue to insist that DRM of this type (or any type) is worth it. I wonder how much money EA stuck into this? The game was available on the torrents before it's official launch and yet here's EA and far to many other companies shoveling money down the DRM hole. And it's doubly a problem because of their refusal to see this as an issue. If the game sells well, EA says "See! DRM isn't that big a deal, people don't care and we're still selling games." If the game's sales are hurt by DRM they fall back on "Pirates are killing our bottom line!" Seriously? Games will get pirated, sure. But you're much more likely to sell copies if they're not crippled in the first place by software that does nothing to stop the pirates and everything to annoy legitimate users.

With the launch of Spore coming soon, I'm finally starting to get excited about a video game again! It's been a while since there's been a video game release that truly sparked a lot of interest in my gaming life. There's been the occasional left field surprise like Sins of a Solar Empire which I've enjoyed playing very much but most of the recent big gaming releases have been more of the same. Prettier sure, graphically some have been amazing - but it's still first person shooter or real time strategy. Will Spore be different?

On this somewhat rainy Monday morning (at least in my neck of the woods) there are just a few deals to tempt twitchy mouse fingers into clicking 'add to cart'. A few video games, National Treasure and a very good price on some Garmin GPS devices.

In the world of time-wasting, flash games may be the ruling elite. Simple games like Motherload and Portal: The Flash Version have gotten me through countless long days at work. And now that I've discovered Fantastic Contraption, I just might never work again.

These are the three precepts to a Window game: "Everything about a Window character is described with adjectives rather than numbers." "It is the actor's responsibility to play their role realistically." "A good story is the central goal.”

Wizkids in cahoots with Toys R Us are giving away free Star Wars pocket models to those in the US with access to a physical location giving them away. In most cases this is a Toys R Us but also a bunch of comic book stores are doing this as well.

Video game adaptations of movies are notoriously awful, as are movie adaptations of video games. Case in point: the Spiderman games suffered from clunky controls and the Tomb Raider movies were overly dramatized and unfaithful to the video game character designs. Games like these are usually shovelware (that is, games that are produced quickly and cheaply in order to get the game in stores as quickly as possible to take advantage of hype). Even though these games are notoriously bad, affiliation with popular movies usually causes them to receive fairly good sales results based on name-recognition.
